“Aurora” – Winemaker’s Walla Walla Red Blend
A rich, but not over the top, blend of Syrah & a bit of Sangiovese that’s smooth from the start to the finish. Subtle dark cherry and blackberry notes on the front and light oak on the finish. Medium bodied so it’s great on its own but hearty enough to carry you through the winter nights.
Winemaker’s Notes: this is among my wife’s favorite wines that I make. It is medium plus bodied so it goes well with bigger food flavors, yet it is heavy enough to enjoy by the firepit in the winter. A very layered wine due the the Syrah providing the deeper plum-berry backbone and the Sangiovese provides the red fruit flavors. Merlot was added in to provide a little softness to round out the finish.
The wine is named after the town but I think next time it will have a catchier name.
60% Syrah, 35% Sangiovese, 5% Merlot.
