Pegasus Reserve Pinot Noir – Hot Rocks Vineyard
Pegasus is the famed winged horse that has defined poetic inspiration and style since the beginning of time. We’ve adopted this to emphasize that this Pinot Noir is a symbol of the poetry of the land, soils and vines. It is also the symbol of my alma mater University of Central Florida (go knights!) Pegasus soars with the dreams and aspirations of a fine wine, grown in our soils & made by our hands.
Winemaker’s Note: This vineyard site is along the Molalla River and due to the rocky soils it is hotter on this site than our other vineyards due to the heat reflection. The Pinot Noir that comes out is typically higher in brix, deeper color and spicier structure. We make a few hundred cases of this single vineyard on its own, aged over 18 months in French Oak (10% new). This Pinot is nimble with food and supple on the tongue… a subtle choice for people that don’t normally enjoy Pinot Noir. This site and our extended cellaring keeps the ruby cherry flavors up front and a rich vanilla texture on the finish.
