“Salmon Safe” Chardonnay – From Our Family Vineyards
This Chardonnay was fermented & aged in steel, has medium body, and nice round finish. It is fresh, with fruit flavors of apple, pear, tropical, citrus and melon. A touch of mellowness is created by having 20% of the wine go through malolactic fermentation to provide a richness, but un-oaked quality.
Food Pairing: Chardonnay will pair well with poultry dishes, pork, seafood or recipes that have a heavy cream or butter base. Also consider pairing unoaked Chardonnay with guacamole, garlic, salads, grilled shrimp or even curry dishes.
Winemaker’s Notes: Chardonnay also known as Chablis or White Burgundy is a white wine that thinks it is red. It is grown in our original Pheasant Run Vineyard which is certified ‘Salmon Safe’. To protect the adjacent streams we farm this 20 year old vineyard without irrigation, fertilzers or harsh chemicals. It took us several years to earn this certification which less than 1% of vineyards in the US have been recongnized for these extra efforts.
